Precaution regarding solid wood treatment
At the workshop, the only type of wood used is solid wood. Compared to other types of wood, it is indeed more resistant to impacts, scratches, and daily wear and tear. Furthermore, it is a noble, natural, and sustainable material.
It is important to know that wood is a living material, meaning it will move, change, and adapt to its environment throughout its life. This is why there are specific rules to follow (which we detail for you in the table below).
For greater simplicity and a longer lifespan, we only use varnish (and not oil).
Varnish is, among other things, a resistant barrier against scratches, stains, humidity, and wear.

Some examples of practical cases from everyday life.
Here are some concrete examples of habits to adopt (for solid wood furniture)
- When you return from vacation, do not turn the heating to the maximum as soon as you arrive; this sudden change in temperature risks causing severe damage to your furniture.
- Do not place your furniture near your fireplace or radiator; the heat source risks deteriorating your product.
- Do not place your furniture in your bathroom (if not ventilated); humidity risks causing swelling.
- Clean your furniture with soft, slightly damp cloths and a soap suitable for wood. The use of other products not intended for wood risks altering the protective finish and damaging the wood surface.
- Do not expose your furniture to direct sunlight
for long periods, as this can lead to discoloration or
premature aging of the wood. Remember to close the curtains or move the
furniture if necessary. - Always use coasters or placemats when placing hot or cold items down. Without this protection, moisture and heat can leave marks that are difficult to remove.
- If you live in a region where humidity varies significantly, consider using a humidifier or dehumidifier in the room where your furniture is located. Rapid fluctuations in humidity can cause the wood to crack or warp.
- Avoid dragging your furniture across the floor when moving it. This could not only damage the furniture, but also weaken its joints. Ask for help and lift the furniture properly to transport it.
- Place protectors under the furniture legs to avoid scratching the floor, and be careful not to place sharp or abrasive objects directly on the wood. This can leave permanent marks.
- Do not forget to nourish your solid wood with suitable care products, such as a special wood oil or wax (do not hesitate to contact us for advice on treating your solid wood). This helps preserve its natural luster and protect it against external damage.
